Toshiba 46LX177 46″ 1080p LCD HDTV

Monday, March 3, 2008

The 46LX177 46″ 1080p LCD is a part of this series, and same as the other members of this series, is something that would no doubt impress a lot of users.

You may notice that we have been talking about sets that features 120 Hz display component. The 46LX177 is no different. This HDTV has been labeled by Toshiba as a 120 Hz monster and includes other features such as ClearFrame; the increased color gamut, ColorBurst; and the 14-bit internal digital video processing, PixelPure 3G.

Out of the box, the Toshiba set features a two inch glossy black bezel. Its a pretty common design so there’s not a lot to be amazed of here - its just a black box. The 46LX177 measures at about 45″W x 28″H x 5″D and weighs 77 pounds. It comes in with a swivel stand which allows you some room to reach for whatever cables you have at the back.

Its connection panels are located, of course, at the back and includes three HDMI 1.3 compatible inputs, two Component (YPbPr) with matching stereo Audio Ins, one Composite (with Audio), one VGA (15 pin D-Sub) and an S-Video. Also included is an input for a wired remote control receiver. One set of L/R Stereo Ins are included, which is also the audio connection if you are hooking your laptop or PC up with a VGA cable.

Now comes the surprising part. Most HDTV sets in the market gives you all these standard inputs. However, the 46LX177 includes another input that is quite surprising. Beside the HDMI inputs is an Ethernet port, (RJ 45), that allows you to connect to your home network. I know some sets already have Wifi that let’s them connect to the internet/home network, and you would even say that its a bit “low-tech” to have wired connections when people are going for wireless convenience. But still, wouldn’t it be great to have these options? I mean just like a laptop or a desktop, you have an option to go wireless or just plug-in your available network cable.

65 Inches of OLED Killer from Mitsubishi

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Mitsubishi has a working experimental 65-inch model. At ten inches thick, it is a fatty compared to the ultra slim OLED monitors that are starting to hit the market, but it is 65-inches, which puts their puny size to shame. New technology in the pipeline, namely the “super wide angular optical engine” promises to get the thickness down to acceptable levels by the time the first commercial models roll out.
With twice the color spectrum, twice the contrast ratio and the capability of displaying three-dimensional images, Mitsubishi looks to have a real winner on its hands. It is possible that we will start seeing the first commercial models as early as this year. If that is the case, OLED might never make it out of smaller screens.

Samsung HL-T5687S DLP HDTV

With the long lasting LED light engine of the Samsung HL-T5687S DLP HDTV, its Full HD (1920 x 1080p) picture will last for a very long time. An ultra-thin, piano-black bezel around the 56″ screen lets you enjoy more screen and less frame. Its slim depth, light weight and hidden speaker system allow the set to fit through tight spaces and ideal for any home entertainment systems.

Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine delivers the widest range of brilliant colors, while a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio renders every picture in perfect detail, from the darkest darks to brightest whites, and every tone in between. SRS TruSurround XT delivers sound that is clear and full.

This TV is equipped with three HDMI inputs in version 1.3 that will render your digital movies, photos and more with greater color depth, while a USB 1.1 port and other inputs allow full connectivity. Game Mode optimizes performance, so avid gamers will marvel at the lifelike action. And even with all these advanced features, the HLT5687S is remarkably energy-efficient.

Samsung has perfected LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting for their rear projection televisions. First, because the LED replacces the arc lamp, you won’t have to pay for a replacement bulb or worry about changing out the bulb for the life of the television. LED lasts considerably longer than incandescent technology, and uses less energy to run.More

NEC preps ultra-wide 42-inch monitor

Friday, January 18, 2008

NEC has unveiled a new display it says will help both for widescreen entertainment as well as for video editors and others who need a large amount of continuous screen space. Officially referred to as the CRVD-42DWX+, the screen switches from LCD to the normally TV-oriented DLP (Digital Light Projection) to allow an extra-long, curved image without bezels; two displays combine to create a single 2880×900 area. Using the technology also has the side-benefit of very intense color accuracy and performance, NEC says: where LCDs often miss colors or exhibit lag, the 42DWX+ displays as much as 170 percent of the NTSC color range with a 12-bit range (versus 8-bit for most LCDs) and draws pixels in just 0.02 milliseconds.

Samsung today unveiled its new series of 24- and 25.5-inch LCD monitors

Samsung today unveiled its new series of 24- and 25.5-inch LCD monitors designed for entertainment and multimedia use. The pair of monitors support resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 with full 1080p HD resolution, HDMI inputs, and built-in multimedia speakers.
